Cognitive Dissonance

This Week’s Feature Article by Jack Kelley

“Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all? (Ezekiel 14:3)

The dictionary defines cognitive dissonance as an anxiety that results from simultaneously holding contradictory or otherwise incompatible attitudes or beliefs. To relieve this anxiety the human mind will strive to diminish the relative importance of one of those beliefs in favor of the other.

Believe In The One He Has Sent

Last Week’s Feature Article by Jack Kelley

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened.  Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.  If anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life,  he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Rev. 20:11-15)

Saved Through Perseverance? Follow Up

Q.  After reading “saved through perseverance” I was reminded of a preacher that said we could lose our salvation.  He cited Matthew 10:22. The preacher took the stand that if we don’t endure we would lose our salvation, but didn’t note specifically what a lack of endurance was.  I would like your feedback on the context of that verse in Matthew 10.

More On Cities Of Refuge

Q.  I have a strong sense that America will remain a fairly safe place for Christians until after the Rapture.  The reason I believe this is because of the ‘cities of refuge’ in the book of Numbers.  God seems to have places for His people to escape to in times of trouble and America has been one of these places in these last couple of centuries.  What are your thoughts on this?

More On Post Rapture Believers

Q.  My question is why do the saints ask “how long” in Rev 6:10 when the Bible specifies a 7 year tribulation period? And even breaks down the length in days? Wouldn’t the people who are martyred during this period know exactly how long is left until Jesus’ second coming.

Revelation 8-9

A Bible Study by Jack Kelley

The first cycle of judgments is ending. The 144,000 have been commissioned and a huge group of martyrs has arrived in Heaven. In many places on Earth war rages unchecked, with its attendant famine and pestilence, and yet in other places peace still prevails. Those lucky enough to enjoy it are fooled into thinking that soon the rest of the world will settle down too, and it’ll be business as usual. Since the anti-Christ has not yet been revealed as Satan’s man for Planet Earth, many still see him as a talented world leader doing his best to restore order, and despite the unprecedented death tolls and all the missing people, they still give him high ratings.

Saved By Faith Alone?

Q.  From an answer that you gave to the question titled Preconditions For Salvation, you mentioned John 3:16; 6:28, 29, 40; to prove that salvation is by faith alone. Don’t you think that you are adding the word alone to the word of our Lord? Were do we find the word alone in those verses?  Yes, we are saved by faith, but God’s Word tells us that we are not saved by “faith alone”.  It it says so, please tell me where without adding the word alone to the verses you quote to me.

Born Again But Left Behind?

Q.  You have said, “I believe it (the rapture) is set to happen when a specific number of born again believers is reached, and I base that conclusion on my understanding of Romans 11:25.”  When I read that my heart  suddenly sank.  So if  I have just now given my life to Jesus, will I still get left behind?  That can’t be correct, why would the Lord have a pre-determined number.
